Patio season is our favorite time of the year here in Custer.  Whether you’re looking for the perfect happy hour spot or a romantic date night oasis, Custer has the restaurant for you!

Beggin’ Burro Mexican Bistro & Tequila Bar
The Begging Burro Bistro is a neighborhood Mexican bistro in the heart of Custer. The menu features Mayan Mexican classics with a contemporary flair. The Burro’s festive spirit extends to the bar where local craft beer and wine is on tap and festive margaritas are always available.  Enjoy your meal (and people watching!) on one of the outdoor tables located in downtown Custer.

Blue Bell Lodge – Custer State Park
Experience hearty ranch house dining in Blue Bell Lodge dining room and lounge, featuring steaks, buffalo and trout cooked to perfection.  Head out early and enjoy the patio that overlooks French Creek. And don't miss the opportunity to enjoy an old-fashioned hayride with sing-along entertainment to a chuck wagon cookout in a secluded valley.

Custer Beacon
A live music venue, restaurant, bar and community events space.  Fresh, made-to-order food from The Canteen menu is available for lunch, dinner and late night both indoors and on the patio. 

Custer Wolf
Gastropub serving from scratch comfort food, craft beer and wine.  Relax and enjoy eight rotating beers on tap in their laid-back environment.  Be outdoorsy…drink a beer and have some food on their patio!

Denial South Dakota
Denial is a wine & beer tasting room offering charcuterie and cheese plates, soup, a daily sandwich and their own Denial dip. Don’t forget the amazing Dessert Charcuterie.  A relaxing atmosphere with a great patio in the back.

Gold Pan Saloon
Come into this legendary saloon for the old west experience and a full-service bar.  Large back patio available to have your drinks on.

Horatio’s Homemade Ice Cream
A locally-owned ice cream shop that makes small batch ice cream and Italian ices in-house using quality, fresh ingredients in downtown Custer.  You can get yours in a house-made waffle cone.  Flavors are ever-changing, keeping it fresh.  There are a couple tables outside that are a great place to enjoy your ice cream (and the smell of the waffle cones!).

Legion Lake Lodge Dining – Custer State Park
The menu offers quality family-friendly entrees with full tableside service both inside and on the deck.  The restaurant features some of the only Black Hills lakeside dining. 

Miner’s Cup
A drive-thru coffee shop that serves specialty coffees, frappes, real fruit smoothies, energy spritzers, infused iced teas, breakfast anytime, handcrafted sandwiches, wraps, salads and pastries all to-go. There is a drive-thru window, walk-up window and outdoor seating.

Mt. Rushmore Brewing Company
They brew, in-house, several varieties of their own hand-crafted seasonal ales, porters, and stouts. All of their beers are available on tap.  They also offer many tastes from other local breweries from around the Black Hills and across the country.  You can’t go wrong drinking beer on their patio!

Pizza Mill
Family-friendly restaurant serving pizza, wings, sandwiches, flatbreads, and salads. Indoor & outdoor patio seating available.


Pizza Works
Watch them hand-toss your pizza while you enjoy family dining indoors or on the outdoor patio.

Pounding Fathers
Full menu with salads, pasta, steaks, dinner entrees, burgers, pizza, kids’ menu, desserts and much more.  A delicious meal on their patio is the perfect way to enjoy the day and the view!

Purple Pie Place
They are a restaurant, ice cream parlor, and bakery featuring light lunches of homemade soup, sandwiches and ice cream specialties. Their pies are all homemade and include fruit and cream pies.  Their outside patio is a pet-friendly place to eat your tasty treats.

Rocky Knolls Golf Course Clubhouse
They have a wide selection of food to order from the grill for both lunch and dinner and a full-service bar.  Plan to enjoy some delicious food and refreshing drinks with outdoor seating.

Subway
From six inches to six feet, they have the sandwich for you and your guests.  Take your sub sandwich outside to one of their patio tables and revel in the beauty of the Black Hills.

Sylvan Lake Lodge Dining – Custer State Park
Fine dining among the rustic pines and scenic lakes of Custer State Park. Specializing in wild game dishes such as buffalo, fresh water trout and Wapiti (Elk) tenderloin. In fair weather, make reservations on the stone veranda (dogs welcome) for al fresco dining with fabulous vistas of the Hills.

Skogen Kitchen
An innovative, chef-driven restaurant featuring unique dinner items. Centrally located in the downtown Custer area and providing intimate indoor and outdoor seating for your pleasure.


Wicked Espresso
A family-owned coffee shop serving espresso drinks, wine, beer, and their signature mimosa flights.  Stop by and relax on the patio and enjoy your favorite beverage.

*Laughing Water Restaurant – Crazy Horse Memorial
Laughing Water Restaurant is open year-round serving lunch and dinner in season and lunch in the off-season. Unique and tasty menu items and a wonderful view of Crazy Horse Mountain Carving.  *Outdoor seating available for to-go orders (no table service available outside).
