Welcome to a little taste of the Black Hills! We can’t wait for you to take a look inside our Southern Hills Vacation Guide and see all that awaits your adventure here.

Nearly three million people will visit our home this year, and it’s no wonder why. Surrounded by acres of the Black Hills National Forest, the Black Hills is unlike any other. Sprinkled with small, welcoming communities along the way from one stop to another, you’re going to make memories that will truly last a lifetime.

The Southern Hills is the true hub of the Black Hills of South Dakota. Here, you are placed minutes away from the area’s largest attractions, sites, and outdoor adventures you’ll want to see and experience while you’re visiting.

Mount Rushmore is the state’s shining star as America’s shrine of democracy. You’ll be able to see the monument, ride some rollercoaster and tour the caves, take an aerial adventure, and grab the best South Dakota memorabilia in Keystone. Don’t leave without tasting the homemade saltwater taffy!

When art is your calling, Hill City is a must stop. From beautiful sculptures adorning a quaint downtown, to galleries, boutiques, and events – this community is often referred to as the heart of the Hills. Be sure to ride the steam engine locomotive and purchase a piece of work to take home.

A bit further south, you’ll be able to visit the town of Custer! Grab a bite to eat at one of their upscale restaurants with fine dining, or grab the best burgers you can find in the Black Hills. See the largest memorial in history being carved at Crazy Horse Memorial, and get ready for a wild adventure with some memorable critters through Custer State Park.

As you travel to the southernmost community of our beautiful Hills, stay a while longer and visit Hot Springs. Known for its wellness community, this town is full of history. From warm spring pools and an indoor waterpark that stays the same temperature all year round, to beautiful sandstone architecture and an active paleontological dig museum – Hot Springs will have you feeling great in no time!

We are so happy to share our favorite parts of our communities with you. If you need anything, or have questions about the Hills, give us a call. We’d love to help make your trip to the Black Hills the best experience it can possibly be.

Here’s to an adventure in the Southern Hills!
