Jewel Cave National Monument

The monument preserves and protects one of the longest caves in the world. At over 200 miles of mapped and surveyed passages, this beautiful underground resource offers an assortment of intriguing and colorful cave formations. Four different cave tours / activities are available, ranging from a 20-minute Discovery Talk to a three to four-hour Wild Caving experience. Combined with an engaging Junior Ranger and Pee Wee Ranger Program, as well as interpretive patio talks, nature hikes, and occasional special events, most visitors will be able to find something of interest on the surface or sub-surface.

Advanced reservations are only available for Scenic Tours and can be made 48 hours before your visit or up to 90-days in advance. During the late spring, summer and fall seasons, cave tours often fill to capacity. For this reason, reservations are highly recommended and can be made by visiting the monument online at www.nps.gov/jeca/planyourvisit/permitsandreservations.htm. Tickets for same day tours are also available on-site; however, please be advised that same day tickets often sell out by late morning. Due to staffing levels, construction projects, inclement weather conditions, and pandemic situations, the facility hours and cave tour schedule may change during the off-season.
