Custer State Park Visitor Discovery: Tracks, Trails, and Tales
Custer State Park Visitor Center
Step into the story written on the ground beneath your feet. Join a park naturalist for a hands-on, interactive program where animal tracks and trail signs reveal who’s been passing through Custer State Park—and why.
This informal, come-and-go experience invites visitors of all ages to explore real and replica tracks, compare prints, ask questions, and learn how to identify animals by the clues they leave behind. From hooves to paws, discover how wildlife moves across the landscape and what their tracks can tell us about behavior, habitat, and survival.
No registration required—stop in anytime, stay as long as you’d like, and uncover the tales hidden in the trails.
There is no fee to participate, but a park entrance license is required. Licenses may be purchased at the Park Office (Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) or at the Visitor Center, open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
