NDEAM: Breaking Barriers – Hayden’s Story

The Monument – Alpine & Ponderosa Rooms: 444 N Mt Rushmore Rd, Rapid City, SD 57701

In recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), the Workplace Disability Network of the Black Hills (WDNBH) invites employers, HR professionals, supervisors, managers, workforce professionals, and community partners to experience Breaking Barriers: Hayden’s Story, an interactive workplace training focused on disability, workplace barriers, communication, and employee support.

Participants step into Hayden’s experience as an employee navigating workplace accommodations and seeking support. Through interactive scenarios, participants encounter communication challenges, uncertainty, and workplace barriers that can make the process more difficult to navigate.

Participants will:

Experience the process by navigating workplace situations from Hayden’s perspective. Recognize the barriers created by communication, paperwork, privacy concerns, and unclear processes. Apply what they learn by identifying practical ways to strengthen workplace communication and employee support.

New and returning participants are welcome. The training is designed for business owners, organizational leaders, human resource professionals, supervisors and managers, workforce development and vocational rehabilitation professionals, employment specialists, and community partners.

Registration is free. Space is limited. Registration closes
