A family-owned business born from a passion for wilderness medicine, Don’t Panic is dedicated to ensuring that when the unexpected happens, you have the skills to lead with confidence.
The Team Behind the Training
Don’t Panic is a true family endeavor, led by Sam and Nora Smolnisky, both former educators who have traded high school classrooms for the great outdoors.
• Sam (Lead Instructor): A South Dakota native and Paramedic, Sam is currently the Director of Custer County Search and Rescue. He uses his background in public education to provide hands-on scenarios and engaging instruction, making complex medical concepts accessible.
• Nora (Logistics Wizard): A former English teacher, Nora handles the "behind the scenes" magic. She also brings a deep love for environmental stewardship to the business.
The "DMM" Difference
Don’t Panic is proud to teach Desert Mountain Medicine (DMM) courses. As a founding member of the Wilderness Medicine Education Collaborative, DMM sets the industry standard. When you train with Don’t Panic, you aren't just getting a certificate; you are receiving up-to-date, evidence-based curriculum that is regularly updated with the latest medical field research.
