This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Wild Spruce Market — a local gem that’s been nourishing our community with specialty and organic foods since 2020!
Opening in June of 2020 might have seemed like a risky move (to say the least!), but Wild Spruce Market had already been in the works for months — so they took the leap. And thankfully, everything worked out wonderfully!
As owners of the former Custer County Market from 2006–2010, the team had already seen how much the community appreciated organic, gluten-free, and specialty grocery options. Fast forward to 2019, and those options had become scarce in Custer. Seeing the need — and the opportunity when Black Hills Power relocated — they purchased the building, renovated it, and transformed it into the specialty foods store we know and love today.
What You’ll Find at Wild Spruce Market:
Organic produce, dairy, frozen, and grocery items
Vegan & vegetarian options
Gluten-free & dairy-free selections
Supplements and gourmet specialty foods
A large variety of locally produced products
Local honey and coffee are top sellers, and their recently introduced South Dakota-made low-temp pasteurized milk has been a huge hit!
A couple of years ago, they added an espresso bar featuring coffee from Dark Canyon Coffee Company — and it quickly became a favorite stop for many locals.
We Love Our Locals Promotion:
October–April: 10% off your entire purchase every Saturday
May–September: Sign up for their email list and receive 10% off on the first Saturday of each month.
Wild Spruce Market continues to fill an important need in our community
while supporting local producers and providing healthy, specialty
options close to home. Be sure to stop in, grab a coffee, and see what’s new on the shelves!
